Duke of Edinburgh Scheme
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme in New Zealand is a set of challenges to encourage young people to use their leisure time constructively. The participants must follow an interest, learn a skill, carry out an expedition, take part in physical activity, give volunteer service in order to gain Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards. In addition to the Gold Award, a Residential Project must be undertaken.
Craighead Diocesan School has a proud tradition of participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Programme. In the last ten years 104 girls have received the Gold Award. Each year our Year 10 students are introduced to the programme, while senior students are encouraged to follow the Silver and Gold level programmes.
