Craighead Uniform Update
As we head towards the winter months, we thought we would take the opportunity to remind families of the winter uniform expectations:
Uniform Transition Dates – From the start of Term Two until Queen’s Birthday weekend we have a transition period where students can wear either full Summer or full Winter uniform. There is to be no mixing of the two. After Queen’s Birthday and until the start of Term Four all students must wear the appropriate Winter Uniform. We begin the transition back to summer uniform at the start of Term Four, where students have the option of wearing either full winter uniform or full summer uniform. After Labour Weekend all students must wear full summer uniform.
Junior School Uniform Change Cycle – Currently we are in a change cycle with our uniform particularly in the Junior School, at Year 7. All Year 7 parents purchasing tunics have been emailed regarding the transition period arrangements for their daughter until the tunics arrive, this information still applies. Therefore, please note that that from Queen’s Birthday 2022 Year 7 students will be expected to wear the following Winter Uniform, there is no mixing matching of items of summer and winter uniform:
Either:
Year 7 Craighead Tunic Option:
- Craighead tartan tunic
- White long sleeved Craighead embroidered shirt or
- Navy blue Craighead skivvy
- Navy knee high long socks
- Craighead jersey (optional)
- Craighead Blazer
Or
Year 7 Craighead Kilt Option:
- Craighead tartan kilt
- White long sleeved Craighead embroidered shirt
- Green Craighead tie
- Navy knee high long socks
- Craighead jersey (optional)
- Craighead Blazer
Or
Year 7 Craighead Navy Short Option:
- Craighead navy short
- White long sleeved Craighead embroidered shirt
- Green Craighead tie
- Navy knee high long socks
- Craighead jersey (optional)
- Craighead Blazer
From 2023
- onwards all Year 7’s will purchase the tunic in place of the summer skirt and kilt as this is designed to be worn all year round.
From 2024:
- All Junior School students (Years 7&8) will be wearing the tunic. Navy Short option will also be able to be worn in Junior School all year round.
- Years 9 – 13 will continue to wear the summer skirt and winter kilt
Winter Shirts:
- The existing cream blouses are being phased out from this year, although we do have limited numbers in some sizes available for purchase by students in Years 8 – 13. As these blouses run out, they will be replaced by the new white blouses however, we are only at present fitting Year 7 due to the changes in uniform at this level as has been indicated previously. If your daughter requires a winter blouse in a size that we no longer in stock in the cream, you will be able to purchase a white blouse for her.
Years 7-12 School Green Tie:
- The green tie is to be worn with the kilt and shorts at Year 7, it is not expected to be worn with the tunic at present. All Year 8 – 12 students must also wear the green school tie, available from the Uniform Shop. This will be worn with the existing cream shirts and with the new white long sleeved shirts as they enter the school.
Year 13 Tie:
- The Year 13 tie has also changed this year, this is now a plain navy tie with a silver Craighead Crest embroidered at the bottom of the tie. All Year 13 students were advised of this at the start of the year. These are now in stock in the Uniform Shop and available for purchase.
Trousers:
- We are currently working with our uniform supplier on a suitable trouser design that in the future will be able to be worn in winter. Once we have working through this process, we hope to stock trousers for those students who may wish to purchase and wear them.
All Craighead uniform items are stocked only at the Uniform Shop. You are able to purchase all existing items online, our new items will be able to be purchased as they become available. If you wish to visit the shop in person, please make an appointment with our Uniform Shop Manager. Mrs Tracy McLeod on uniformco@craighead.school.nz
The Uniform Shop is open at lunchtimes at the moment to allow students to purchase items of uniform that they may need.
