Who is Netsafe?
Netsafe is New Zealand’s independent, non-profit online safety organisation. Taking a technology-positive approach to the challenges digital technology presents, we work to help people in New Zealand take advantage of the opportunities available through technology by providing practical tools, support and advice for managing online challenges.
We are an independent non-profit organisation with an unrelenting focus on online safety. We keep people of all ages safe online by providing free support, advice and education seven days a week.We are driven by our vision and gear everything we do to achieving our purpose.
During last year, Netsafe were invited by the Digital Collaborative Group to support the Timaru community (Parents, Teachers, Students and children) in presenting their Netsafe Live Event. As a result, Netsafe have agreed to present with us “virtually” and this takes the form of a series of short (approximately 10 minutes each) videos for parents, which we are putting together each week.
The episodes are currently:
Episode 1: Introduction to Netsafe, the Harmful Digital Communications Act and starting the conversations.
Episode 2: Filters, rules and creating a plan about online activities with your young person.
Episode 3: Bullying, Privacy and Misinformation
The first week is now live (Link: https://youtu.be/ Ka55Uc-85VE) and I would like invite you to view this video as we begin our journey with Netsafe.
