The Craighead Senior Girls team of: N Motley (Y12) , M Thomas (Y12), K Ritchie (Y11) and M Shannon (Y11) clustered beautifully at the finish of the 3km Hagley Park course on Tuesday at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Road Race to challenge  established Christchurch schools. Their performances in a field of over 60 athletes from Years 11-13 put them among the top of the teams table.

In the U16 3km race, F Coffin finished a very respectable 10th, working her way through the field after a jostling start. First timers in this competition were the Year 9 team of R Laming (an outstanding effort in her first race against such competitive opposition), G Bell and K Caird who conquered their nerves wonderfully.

Such results indicate good form for the cross country season with the Aoraki Secondary Schools event on Tuesday May 24 and the Canterbury Secondary Schools Cross Country on Thursday June 2.

Results: Year 9 Girls: R Laming – 6th, G Bell – 22nd, K Caird – 32nd. Under 16 Girls: F Coffin – 10th. U19 Girls: N Motley – 3rd, M Thomas – 10th, K Ritchie – 14th, M Shannon – 19th.
