The future of cross country at Craighead was on display last week as 8 Craighead students made the annual pilgrimage to Waihi School to take on their difficult 3km course. The Waihi course is one that encompasses the best of cross country, with a range of water and jumps to navigate, compounding the exhaustion of the distance.

Once again our team were fantastic in their efforts with notable results in both races. Ruby Mahuika ran well in the Year 8 Girls race to achieve an outstanding 2nd place and with Georgia O’Sullivan (14th) Eve Andrews (16th) and Natalie Koster (17th), our athletes clustered well to take out the team placings. Fine runs in the Year 7 race by Lily Crosbie (4th) and Charlie Nichol (5th) and were complemented by a strong run by Neve Ball to come second in the teams race.

The full Craighead team:

Year 8: Eve Andrews, Natalie Koster, Ruby Mahuika, Georgia O’Sullivan, Jasmine Payne

Year 7: Lily Crosbie, Charlie Nichol, Neve Ball
